What's the Best Desktop Music Player?

Most of us use some desktop media or music player to keep your music organized, make playlists, listen to our tunes, and find something great to listen to. When you’re in the mood for music, which one do you turn to?

This week we want to know which music player you think is the best. We realize it hasn’t been too long since we asked you this question, but we’re curious if the results have changed since then, or if there are any new contenders vying for the crown compared to last time.

We’re doing something different with the call for contenders this week. To cast your vote, please follow these guidelines:

1. Follow this format for your vote, including the bold print. If you don’t, it won’t be counted:

   Why: Explain why this music player is the best of the best. Make your case! Try to keep it to a single paragraph, maybe two. Let us know why you think it rocks (literally), what features you love about it, and tell us why it’s better than other apps you’ve tried.

   
   


2. Don’t duplicate nominations! Instead, if someone’s nominated your favorite, star (recommend) it to give it a boost, and reply to them instead. If someone’s beaten you to the punch, please don’t leave another comment with the same nomination. Just click the star to recommend it and bump up the number next to the star by one. We’ll use the numbers next to those stars to tally the nominations and decide the top five, so it’s important!


3. Please don’t leave non-entry, direct comments on this post. They’ll just get pushed down. Save your comments for others’ submissions.

If you’re not sure what we mean, just check out the nominations by our writers below. We’ll give you a headstart, and they should all be in the proper format, so you can just follow our lead.

Even though we’re changing the format a little bit, the same basic rules apply. Nominations emailed to us will not be counted. To prevent tampering with the results from companies or social media pushes to generate votes, nominations from first-time commenters may not be counted. When we close the call for contenders, we’ll update this post, and the final five will be based on both your votes and our picks for the best of the best.
